Hangover

This was considered one of the funniest Hollywood movies of the times, at least in India. This movie starts with a man exposing his nasty bum. The movie goes around a group of friends visiting Las Vegas just a couple of days before one of theirs marriage. Now  the groom goes missing and all the friends forget what they did last night. So now they are busily searching for the friend.

Leaving the stupid story aside, I wonder how the censor board of India just allowed this movie to play in India. There are lakhs of freaks who say gay sex should not be allowed, some more who say the STAR Plus reality show “sach ka saamna” should be banned. But a movie which was only concentrated on masturbation
and vulgar means of sex was allowed to play in India. How unfortunate!

One of the guys makes a few months old kid hold his wrist and moves it up and down. Isn’t this called child abuse? This is a country where at least constitutionally women are respected and how come using the word “Mother F***ers” is justified and that too just like any other common word?

Is there no one to take care of such nasty things entering India? People what are you all appreciating? There is a difference between decent romance and vulgarity. Showing a couple making love in decent fashion might be called as a drama, but exposing a dirty ass and shaking hands to masturbate and fucking a tiger are called vulgarity. If the Americans are crazy to do all that, let them.

This is not what we even talk among friends right?
Its time the ministry of films or broadcasting – whoever, has to take care those stupid movies are not shown in our country.

Kaminey - Mere ticket ke paise vaapas de..!!!!!

Before I start my review of Kaminey, let me first make a few revelations about me.. I am writing a review for the first time. So, there won't be any diplomatic phrases in this. Second thing, I generally watch movie as a typical Indian movie-goer. I keep the baggage of being an engineer, an IIM drop-out outside the theater... !!!!

Let's begin...

When I saw the first promo of Kaminey, I thought this would be similar to Omkara... The dark promos accentuated my feeling... But there were a couple of songs which caught my interest... And it was basically because of those two songs that I went to the movie.... So, in short, I didn't have high expectations from the movie.

But film critics had something else in mind and all of them gave a consistent rating of 4/5. This created a sort of minute expectation inside me that the movie might be good.

Coming to the movie, it started with Charlie (Shahid -1 who pronounces 'F' for 'S'. So, Saale becomes Faale and so on.) narrating the story about him and his brother Guddu (Shahid  - 2 who stammers while talking). The movie starts with three parallel stories and there would be a lot of confusion in following the movie for the first 30-40 minutes. You need to concentrate hard to make it out. I felt that the director took a long time to set the context of the film. By the time we are clear of the proceedings, it is almost interval time. .Just before the interval, there is a case of mistaken identity and both brothers get swapped. This is the point where I felt the movie would become interesting....!!!

Unfortunately, the second half disappointed me a bit. It was just a bitter pill to swallow at the end..Story wise, there is nothing new in the movie. It is a typical Bollywood potboiler... But it was very slow-paced. It became boring at times... Also, there was a liberal dose of Marathi in the movie which adds further to the confusion..Fortunately, I know Marathi and could enjoy the Marathi part. In fact, it is Amol Gupte who provides relief in the movie with his histrionics as a Marathi Maanus Bhope Bhau.

Let's first talk about the positives of this movie.
1. Dhan te naan..... This song rocks and I am sure everyone would enjoy it in the theater.
2. Amol Gupte's acting.

Now coming to the negatives...
1. Too slow
2. Too dark
3. Too confusing for an average movie-goer
4. Lot of preference given to the technicalities of the movie rather than on the story.

My rating is 1.5/5

I know most critics have given a rating of 4 to this movie but generally most of the critics don't write a review keeping an average movie-goer in mind. They think that they are too intellectual and that's why they give shabbily edited movies like Kaminey and Dev D higher ratings. I am still confused on how some critics gave 5/5 to Dev D!!!!!

Anyways, in a nutshell, this movie made me cry out in vain... Kaminey... Mere Ticket ke paise vaapas de de...!!!!

Magadheera

Upon a lot of request from my friends who are hard core fans of Chiranjeevi, I finally made up my mind to watch this movie. I thought its better to have a bad start of the day rather than a bad ending, thus booked for morning show in PVR Bengaluru

I do not want to narrate much. However these are my observations.

1. By doing a risky feat one does not become a hero, you need to have the charm; something like your dad.

2. Its a call center attitude to use anything and everything in every possible way to show utilization. Similarly here as because they have paid for the herione and she being a fresher the director showed her cleavage everywhere and anywhere possible. If the actress is there in the scene then its compulsory that she has to expose the cleavage

3. I assume that all the South Indian directors take the audience for granted. They show that hero can do anything and everything. This movie is no exception for the above assumption.

Guys if you are hardcore fans of Sri Chiranjeevi and want to encourage his son, just because of it, please go ahead and watch.

Neither its a movie that can be skipped.

Request to film industry: Stop slapping Padmasri Sri Brahmanandam. You can generate comedy even without slapping him. Every kid in the industry is slapping him in films. Its unbearable

Love Aaj Kal - Everthing about understanding Love

Love these days is sometimes misunderstood by many people. I remember a quote, I read long time ago; "A young man in love is actually not in true love, its just a sexual fantasy". This is an unfortunate truth with many of the young these days. However there might be a situation that you might start with a fantasy but internally you are emotionally attached to the other person. You would realize this only when you miss them.

This is the concept on which the movie is wonderfully directed. Saif a guy with lots of ambitions meets Deepika who has her own set of goals which are in a different direction to Saif's. They both date one another for more than year and then think of breaking up to achieve their goals. They arrange a breakup party in a hotel which is owned by our love guru, Rushi Kapoor. After the party Rushi tries to preach Saif about love and tries to make Saif realize that they were in love. The movie goes on making both realize the importance of one another in their lives.

Its worth a watch. And just like any other Saif's movie, its filled with a lot of fun.

My rating is 3.5/5
My Verbal Rating: Nice movie to spend some good time.
